214. Nicknames: Opening our Joy Box

 

Kids get a toy box, adults get a joy box!

I’ve shared some of  shopping sprees that filled our joy box (Post 43, Post 130).  I have  mentioned some of the nicknames we have given to select items of our growing pleasure chest.  Do you have pet names for your spanking implements and sex toys?

Here are some of ours, along with some comments and critique from Mike and I.  Most of these are part of our sex play and not discipline.   I think I mentioned before that since adopting DD, our sex play has become more adventuresome with the addition of various toys and accouterments.  

— THE ALWAYS PADDLE —
 Pretty straightforward of a nickname.  It’s a 12 inch oak paddle with holes, engraved with “Always with Love.”  Mike said he believes the physics behind it is that the holes reduce air resistance making it easier for the spanker to swing harder, or basically give a harder spanking without using more effort.   The holes also dissipate the force that is put on the paddle, so less vibration of the paddle may again benefit the spanker.  As for the spankee, in addition to a harder hit, the flesh can compress around the spots where the holes are, causing more pain as the flesh squeezes in and out of the hole in an instant – leaving nice round marks on the ass.  If any of that is incorrect or begs for elaboration, please comment!

Jen:  As someone who has been on the receiving end of the “Always,” I concur.  It can really sting.
Mike:  I actually don’t pull this one out very often.  I don’t like the sound it makes.  Let me rephrase, I love the sound it makes, I just love it less than the sound of other implements!   Perhaps the holes dissipate the sound too?   While spanking is primarily about discipline, the sounds add to the overall experience for both of us, especially me.  I like to hear a smack more than a thud, and the Always tends to sound more muted.       

— MISSISSIPPI —
I mentioned this one in the New Years Eve spanking (Post 201).  Its’ name comes from the fact it is a wide paddle (The Mississippi River is a wide river).   It is 18 inches long and four and half inches wide, thus covers a lot of surface area.  

Jen:  Whenever I see it or am told to fetch it, I know I am in for a sore bottom for at least the rest of the day, if not a couple of days.
Mike:  Jen has mentioned before she thinks the Mississippi will crack some day because it isn’t very thick.  Well, it’s walnut or maple, I forget which, but it is harder than oak so I think will prove to be durable, much to her chagrin. 

— BABIES —
Yeah, these are the nipple suckers.   However, as we have added a cupping system and an “extra-large” set of suckers, we’ve had to differentiate between the “little babies,” (our standard suckers), the “big babies,” (are extra large suckers), and the “greedy babies” (the cup).

Jen: This is an area where DD has integrated our sex life.  We often pull out the “babies” as part of sex play.  I love nipple play and having my breasts be a focus of our sex play.  I’ve never had a nipple-gasm, that is, orgasm just from nipple play, but it often brings me very close!
There are differences in how these are used in discipline vs sex.  Discipline is applying clamps or clothespins right after a good suction and keeping them in place for some time and pushing the limits on what I can tolerate.  Suffice to say, I love it when our lovemaking starts with, “go get all the babies.”
Mike:  What can I add after that?  I am amazed at how pliable the breast and nipples are and how they can retain a new shape for a while before returning to normal.  We’ve never measured, but I bet Jen’s nipples get close to three inches long, maybe four, while in suction.  Is that TMI?   

— BEAST —
Just google “prison strap.”  However, ours is rubber, not leather.  At 32 inches long it looks intimidating and it is to be feared (I say that jokingly – I don’t fear it, but I don’t like it!).   
Jen:  I don’t know if a leather strap would be more or less intense than rubber.  Anyone have experience with that?  Regardless, I am sure it mostly has to do with how hard the spanking is.  Whatever – this strap quickly delivers heat to my bottom. What I hate the most is that because it is so long, sometimes a strike will wrap around and get my hip – that’s a “Thwack” you don’t want to get too many of.
Mike:  Ha. I was just going to say that the difference in rubber versus leather is sound.  The rubber is more of a thump than a whack, but Jen’s right, when it wraps around and gets her hip, it is mixture.  “Thwack” is the perfect word.
The Beast covers a large area and leaves a mark quickly and with less effort.  Again, while discipline is the primary focus, you can’t ignore sights and sounds.  It delivers on great sights (red bottom), great sounds (both from the sound of the contact and the sounds it elicits from Jen and Kayla), and does so very quickly.
I imagine if someone really let loose with it there could be serious damage.  Striking very hard and just catching the tip of the strap on the ass — watch out!  I believe the physics behind it is that because it is so long, the tip is traveling at a very high rate of speed.  You want to make sure most of the straps surface is making contact with the butt, else you can cause serious injury.   We have never had a mishap, but the potential is there if not used with care.  

— KING —
It’s a seven-inch dildo whose nickname comes from the name the manufacturer gave it, the King Cock.  We just call it “the King.”
Jen:  This has always been exclusively a sex toy, not used in discipline.  This was my first dildo and I use it more than I thought I would.  It’s great when we need an extra cock to simulate DP.  I am sure some of you out there are like, “7 inch? That’s no king.”  Well, what can I say?  Seven is plenty for me.
Mike:  It’s a good change of pace from a vibrator and I enjoy using it on her or just watching her use it on herself.  

— HEISENBERG —
This is the Wartenberg pinwheel.  When we got it, Mike called it the Heisenberg because he couldn’t remember the correct name, and the name just stuck.  Nice Breaking Bad reference!
Jen:  Oooo, love this one.  This was another one I was unsure of until we actually used it.  It goes great when used along with the Babies!
Mike:  Yeah, this is a great mixed-used implement – good for both discipline and play, although I haven’t used it for discipline often.  Humm, note to self!  

— OH DIOS MIO —
The Violet Wand, my most expensive toy that is worth every penny.  You can find cheaper ones, but I was not disappointing with what I spent (I think it was like $150-$175). 
Jen:  This nickname came from the first time we used it.  I got a good zap somewhere and blurted it out.  I am not hispanic, it’s not a family saying, it’s just what came out.  I am pretty sure it was in the back of my mind from an SNL Skit.   This toys is great.  We played with it a lot when we first got it but it has been neglected lately.  Time to dust it off.
Mike:  Yeah, definitely needs to be part of the regular rotation and I have no idea why I haven’t pulled this one out for discipline.  Another note to self!   As for sex play, I think it’s one of those things that you don’t just want to get out and use for a few minutes.  It is best when you have time for a good extended love making session.  There are so many ways to use it.  The best resource on the ins and outs of the wand is at violetwand.com.

— BILLY MAYS —
The enema!  Yeah, I feel bad for Billy Mays fans to use his name as a nickname for the cleansing system.  That was Mike’s idea, simply because is cleans! 
Jen:  Yeah, not my favorite for discipline, but Kayla and I have used it on our own just to be nice and clean for Mike or each other.  A quick “squirt” or two can help eliminate worry of an anal sex mishap.  As for discipline, taking a lot in definitely creates a lot of discomfort.  I’ve at least gotten over the embarrassment of  expelling.  
Mike:  This can be a bit time-consuming thus not ideal for most punishment situations. Got to clean and rinse things afterwards.  I need to get one of those bulbs that you can just quickly fill and release.  I may have gone overboard with the system I purchased. Live and learn!   

— MEGATRON —
This is the name for the assorted bondage gear that Kayla picked out.  It includes chrome collar, bracelets, shackles, and wrist and ankle spreader bar. 
Jen:  These have never been used on me, this is Kayla’s deal.
Mike:  Great for punishment, and great for sex,  ’nuff said

— EL GUAPO —
For pure pleasure, not discipline — the penis pump and cock ring
Jen:  This nickname came from Kayla.  The first time we used it on Mike she jokingly said “Muy guapo,”  Spanish for very handsome!  Mike mentioned being surprised by how stretchy my nipples are, well, I was surprised by how rock hard his cock gets from using these two things together.
Mike:   Yeah, a normal erection is one thing, but these devices can help deliver a  “morning wood” hardness.  I wanted to call it the Steel Eel but relented.  El Guapo it is.

130. Growing our Joy Box. XXX-mas in April.

We are growing our collection of toys and other adult oriented accouterments.  Similar to last year’s XXX-mas in July, we just went on a shopping spree.   Although we just ordered the stuff and it is still March, they won’t arrive until April. 

BIGGER JOYBOX REQUIRES MORE TOYS!
Mike bought a large armoire to store our adult playthings.  We put it at the back of our walk in closet, far from where kids or guests would venture.  Plus, it locks!   It easily stored all our existing toys.  Murphy’s Law says your sex toys must expand to the space you allocate for them.  Thus, we had no choice.  We had to buy more.  Um, well, maybe that’s not Murphy’s Law, but it’s Jenny’s!  

I shared in an earlier post that we bought Kayla a large locking chest as a “welcome” gift that is used to store some toys she picked out for herself.   Well, now she has our old chest plus that first one, and we have our new armoire to fill.

We refer to the armoire and the chests not as our Toy Box, but as our Joy Box!

note – prior to our DD lifestyle, we didn’t own any toys.  Oh how that has changed!

THE BUDGET
Mike really splurged and set a $1,500 budget!  The way it worked is each of us (Mike, me, and Kayla) would create our own lists.  There was an “A” list where we could identify $400 in stuff we wanted.  We then each had a “B” list identifying another $300 in spending.  I know that is $700 each, but we wouldn’t necessarily get everything on our “B” list.  That would be up to group discussion.  That’s a lot of stuff!   Mike wanted to make this an “event” versus just slowly adding to our fun.  

THE SHOPPING
Mike had each of us do our own searches and develop our own shopping lists. And not only were we to include the price, but also the website we found them on.  In addition, we had to write the reason why we were interested in the item and whether they were for use on ourselves, others, or to be used by all three of us.   

We then sat down and shared our lists.   If there were duplicates or triplicates on our “A” list, one person had to leave it on their list and the other(s) got to remove it.  If you removed an item from your “A” list you could then move up an item from your “B” list to keep your “A” list budget of $300.   Following?   Yeah, a little confusing, but it worked well.  Once all three “A” lists were complete, we had $1,200 of the $1,500 spent and we all still had stuff on our “B” lists.  

Mike then said that either Kayla or me would get all the remaining $300 to spend.  Who would get that money would depend on the outcome of a contest!  

THE CONTEST
It was a spanking contest, but Mike was not the spanker.  I would spank Kayla and she would spank me, and whomever called “red” first would be the loser.    We would start with a round of one swat, then a round of two consecutive swats, then three, etc.  It really tested exactly how badly we wanted what was on our list.

Kayla and I saw this as a fun competition and both playfully taunted the other that they would give up first.  The swats started and they were all extremely hard.  Kayla was putting all she had into each swat of my behind, and I too was not holding back on her. After just the first round where we each just got one swat, I knew this contest was not likely to go many rounds.   At the end of round 4, I couldn’t answer the bell for round 5.  I caved first.  

My excuse was that it was less about not being able to tolerate the pain and more about the fact the pain surpassed the desire to get what was on my list.  I already have a lot toys, I don’t need my butt beat to earn a few more.  

THE FINAL LIST
$1,540.  Okay, a little over budget but Mike approved.  If you are interested, most of the stuff came from either Tabu Toys or Extreme Restraints.    Yes, unlike our XXX-Mas in July list, which was heavily slanted towards spanking implements, this list had a bit more BDSM slant. Okay, maybe more than a bit. 

Here’s what we got from the list of each person:

JENNY’S LIST
Cock ring, penis pump, cupping system, pinwheel, and violet wand.

We have a cock ring and we love it, and I wanted another.  It’s amazing how they can make a hard on a metal rod hard on.  As for the pump, it was more a curiosity and gives something for me and for Kayla to use on him, to the extent he allows it.  I’ve always wanted a pinwheel as the sensations should be wonderful.   The cupping system is part of my love of breast and nipple stimulation (stimulation as in “pain”, but the nice kind of pain).  And the system works on the vagina or clit, which should be interesting.  I really got it for the breasts and a little apprehensive about the other, but you have to experiment!  

The item I am most excited about is the violet wand.  It is expensive but I hope is worth it.  

KAYLA’S LIST
Faux leather zip up dress, open cup bustier, chrome collar/bracelets/ankle shackles, single choker, locking wrist/ankle spreader bar, bed restraints, 2 sets of anal beads, and flogger.

Her list was definitely the BDSM list.  The outfits were no surprise and I can’t wait to see her in them.  The matching chrome “jewelry” will be fun while the spreader bar was a surprise to me, but a pleasant one.  She has always admitted she likes being restrained and that contraption is very restraining.  While a newbie to anal sex, she has become fond of anal play and thus wanted some beads.   The sweetest thing was the choker.  It is something she wants to wear in public.  It is subtle enough that vanilla folks might think it was suggestive, but more than likely wouldn’t even give it a second thought.  Anyone into kink would know what it represented.  

Oh, and I want to mention that Kayla will look so good in those outfits.  Not that she needed to, but Kayla has lost ten pounds since moving in with us. She wanted to become more fit and basically just started eating healthier and adding some light exercising.  She wanted to look as good as she feels.   To me her positive feelings were already making her look more beautiful than ever, and now her physique matches those improved feelings.  Self-confidence is a great aphrodisiac and her self-confidence about her insides and her outsides is off the charts.      

MIKE’S LIST

Yep, also a BDSM slant to it!  He really likes using the gags on us and will now have two new gags at his disposal.  The pleasure tape and rope means more restraints.  The big eye opener to me was the strap on and the cleansing system, both of which he said were not for him but for me and Kayla.

Mike said he wants to have me and Kayla use the strap-on on each other.  I don’t have any qualms about it, but it just surprised me as he hadn’t expressed an interest in that before.   I asked him about that and he said that he never really thought of it but when he came across it online he immediately thought, “yes, I want to see that in use.”

As for the cleansing system, he felt it would make the hygiene process easier and more thorough, while at the same time he could explore enema’s as punishment.   This was not a surprise as he had voiced this before.  Remember, we share our dreams and desires, especially the naughty ones.  Unlike the wand, this is one item I am not looking forward to.  Therefore, it means I also look forward to it.  Such is the dichotomy of being a submissive.

121. Questioning my Kink – 20 Questions from Sis

Okay, it wasn’t 20 questions.  It also was my sisters, plural, not just one of them…just taking a bit of literary license with the title.

My sisters peppered me with a variety of questions and I thought their questions, and my answers, were worth sharing.  They didn’t ask me much when I first revealed my lifestyle to them (Post 116).  They’ve become curious now that they’ve had time to cogitate on it.

Before I get into that, a quick apology/clarification on my last post/rant.  I should have made it clear that I do consider myself a feminist AND further, a humanist.  In my mind, the former is a subset of the latter. You can be the former without being the latter, but you can never be the latter without being the former.   Okay, enough of that.    

So, here we go!  Questions from sis. . . 

What if Kayla gets a boyfriend/girlfriend?
The three of us have talked openly about this.  Nothing prevents Kayla from dating but she has made it clear she is not “in the market.”  She feels her relationship with us is the relationship she is in, she doesn’t want or need another.

We talked about how this could change and the potential challenges it could pose.  As we are required to be completely open and honest, that openness can be tricky.  How would it make Kayla feel if Mike or me (or both) did not like this person?  Would Kayla tell this person about her relationship with us, and if not, why not, and if so, at what point?  We aren’t looking for a fourth, but wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to it, but again, that could be awkward.  How would it make Kayla feel if we “rejected” this person she was attracted to?   Then there is the risk the partner would reject her when/if they were told about her relationship with us.  Then there is the issue of being confident that Kayla was practicing safe sex.

I am sure there are even more issues that would have to be addressed.  Suffice to say it gets complicated. It is good that the three of us have talked through these in advance, to the extent you can even anticipate the various complications.  I am not sure how serious Kayla took those conversations because in her mind she isn’t going to date.

What if people at Mike’s work found out?
 Mike and I have become very comfortable and confident with our lifestyle.  While we don’t publicize it and consider it private, we aren’t worried over who finds out. We have a “so what?” attitude about it now.

Kayla and Mike have gone out on dates, have held hands and even kissed in public (like a peck or typical PDA, not like a make out session).  They don’t overly flaunt it, but it is no different from when Mike and I are out together.  Even Kayla and I have held hands or give each other a peck on the lips while out in public.  At some point someone we know will see something.  Let their imaginations run wild!

What if Kayla’s parents found out?
We also talked about this.  You’ll find that there isn’t much that me, Mike, and Kayla haven’t discussed.  I mentioned before I am a bit obsessed with setting expectations and part of that is talking through the various situations we could face in the future.  While you can never anticipate all the turns in life, nor anticipate how you will feel and react when they are real and not just hypothetical, let alone guarantee your feelings won’t change between now and then, it is still helpful to talk them through when they are just hypothetical.  

Kayla feels the chances are that at some point they will find out, probably hearing from someone who saw something in public like I mentioned before.  That is the primary reason she does try to be discreet and not overly flaunt it in public, but at the same time, she will still hold hands with one of us at times, or even give a quick kiss in public.  She is comfortable just telling them it is her life.  She would tell them she isn’t going to discuss her choices.  As for us, we are prepared to do the same.  

What if Kayla tells everyone?
I mentioned this before in a prior blog where Kayla has confided in a friend of hers, with our consent.  That has actually changed in that we have told Kayla she is free to tell whomever she wishes, we just want to know who she tells.    She has since shared it with her circle of friends.

Kayla has found a lot of strength and confidence from being able to share it with her friends.  Explaining it to them, much like me explaining it to my sisters, is a reaffirming thing.  It feels good to verbalize and share, with pride and not shame, what is deeply important to us.    

What about when Kayla leaves?
We have talked about the fact that we are “Mr and Mr. Right-Now” for Kayla, and that we don’t look at this as a lifelong commitment.  However, we aren’t opposed to that either and leave it up to Kayla to indicate when she is ready to take on a new chapter in her life.  Kayla said that emotionally she can’t ever imagine leaving, but philosophically thinks that once she finishes grad school (spring or fall of 2019), she can better assess her needs and plans for the future.   She reiterates that her feelings right now are such that it hurts her to even think about leaving.  We feel the same way.  Mike and I truly love her.  We love what she adds to our household, our relationship, our family.  There is so much more to it than the DD, D/s, and sex.  

What if someone gets physically hurt?
The “kink” life can be a contact sport for sure.  Accidents can happen. I’ve shared an extremely deep bruising I got in Post 52. The Spanking that Keeps Giving.  There’s also been the occasional bump on the head, redness or soreness from a restraint (ankles or wrists), or rawness/extreme sensitivity of genitals or breasts.  And not so much for Kayla, but for us nearing 50, there is the occasional joint or muscle pain after a particularly contorted and demanding activity.   Other than those things, I don’t think we do anything that is extreme enough that it risks injury that would require medical attention.

The key is communicating needs, limits, and how you are feeling.  If something is sore from the day before, you say something.   Of course, if someone were seriously injured, it makes no difference if it were the result of TTWD or just a more typical household accident.  We’d seek appropriate treatment. 

What’s it like?
More specifically, sis asked what it was like being in a three-way relationship.  This is the type of question you can’t really answer to someone’s satisfaction.  

I told her, “You know what it is like to be in your relationship with your husband?   Well, it’s like that.”

I told her there is a lot of mundane and normal stuff that you have in any relationship.  Being submissive is more than a role in the bedroom.  It is a day-to-day, moment to moment mind-set.  And being in this “triad” with Kayla is no different.  It is more than what we do in the bedroom.  It is the day to day, moment to moment interactions that we value the most.  And what those interactions like?  Well, they are like the normal interactions my sister has with her husband.   

Having said that, we clearly have more sexual energy and emotional openness than most relationships.   We spend a lot of time on understanding and reacting to the needs of each other.  I told my sisters that this should be the norm, but unfortunately, typically isn’t for most people. Most relationships lack the proper degree of willingness to be vulnerable with each other. Not so with a DD, and not so with polyamory.

I told them that the secret DD revealed to me is that your willingness to be vulnerable to your partner is directly related to your fulfillment in that relationship.  I’ve posted about vulnerability before.  My favorite is a reblog I did on Post 68. REBLOG: To fall in love anyone, do this.

What kind of equipment or toys did you buy?
That was easy, I told them next time they were over to the house I would show them. I’ve shared a post on my first “shopping spree,” (Post 41. Christmas in July ), but we have continued to make frequent purchases and have a large assortment of stuff.  Kayla has a chest in her room that is her personal choices.  

Of course I followed my answer with, “Why are you asking?  Looking for recommendations?” She slyly said, “Maybe, maybe not.” 

You are okay with Mike having sex with Kayla?
Yes. And he is okay with me having sex with her too.  

What do you enjoy the most?
I told her this was another question without a definitive answer, no more than if I asked her what she enjoyed the most about her marriage.  It is basically the same things about feeling fulfilled.  It is that feeling that is the most enjoyable.  Of course, how I get that feeling is very different from how she gets it.  So the question really is, what activities give me the greatest fulfillment. 

That’s tough to answer.  It isn’t about one thing or one action.  As far as my submissiveness, it is about the full package of being submissive.  I think I summed it up best in Post 30. I found my thrill. I did my best to share those sentiments to her.  I finally just decided to tell her about this blog and told her to read for herself.  (Yikes, maybe that wasn’t a good idea, but too late, my sisters now know of my blog). 

What, you blog about this?
My sisters were dismayed that I blog about this.  I told them it provides sufficient anonymity and it serves as a tremendous affirmation for me.   She countered with my prior statement of being comfortable with people finding out, so why the anonymity.  I told her again I consider this private, and being comfortable with people finding out whatever bit or piece they discover is way different from publicizing all the details that can be shared with a click of the button.  

I’ve been very tempted to share more about myself, pictures, etc.  Mike is totally against this and, while tempted, I too wouldn’t want to do that (yet).  Mike has a total “social media” ban on any salacious pictures of any of us or even non-salacious ones that tie us to TTWD.   I had to agree to that in order to have his permission to blog.    And Mike has access to my email, blog, and all social media so he is able to check up on me.  He knows I have a tendency to overshare, just as I did by telling my sisters of my blog.  

Why don’t I consider this abuse? 
Sis, it is all about consent and intention!  Without those it is absolutely abuse.  DD or D/s or anything we regard as kink is not one-sided exploitation when there is consent and the right intentions.   

Well isn’t this all so nice for Mike? (said sarcastically)
Yes, it is, but don’t think it is easy.  A submitted wife requires a committed husband, and a submitted person requires a committed dom.  These are equally important responsibilities. By equal, I don’t mean “the same.”  It means that the whole thing falls apart if one of us fails in our responsibilities.  But to really answer your question, absolutely, it is very nice for Mike, and that gives me immense pleasure.

Other questions

Their questions were delivered with some skepticism, but were non-judgmental. There was never a “How could you?”  They were truly curious, and remain so, regarding how I got to this point.  They know me well enough to know I have thought through all the angles.  I shared with them that while I put a lot of thought into our journey into DD, almost from the moment I considered it, I knew it was right for me.  

Last question…
Do you have regrets about this?
No, and further, I still have that same enthusiasm today as I had when my journey started. And while my enthusiasm hasn’t waned, my appreciation as increased.  I think of the path my life was on pre-DD and know that there was no way I could be as happy and as fulfilled as I am as a submitted wife.  The relationships with John and Donna, and of course with Kayla, are unexpected and joyful additions to that journey.

43. XXX-Mas shopping complete.

Here’s the update on my XXX-mas in July shopping spree.  Mike wanted me to pick everything out and surprise him.  After reading up on all these items (I must have read hundreds of reviews), I went back to Mike and asked him for a larger budget.  My logic being that the better quality items cost more and HE is worth it!   Hee hee.  It worked.  He said okay to $600 but that I would receive 20 spankings for every dollar more.

I am not sure what a woman’s toy collection says about her, but I hope mine says “fun and adventuresome” as I expect a lot of fun and adventure!

  The Wand looks intimidating and I almost got something else, but the reviews are off the charts.  Everyone seems to love the Wand and swear by it, so the Wand it is.

  Looks feeble, especially compared to the Wand.  1 AA battery?  Really?  Is that enough power?  At least it is discreet.
• 1 dildo
